About The Position

As a Psychological Services Specialist with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will help guide individuals through important steps toward healthier thinking and behavior. This is your opportunity to use your skills in a meaningful way. At the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill, you will be part of a professional team that works hard to promote well-being. This position focuses on delivering psychological services that support the mental health and emotional adjustment of inmates at SCI Camp Hill.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver individual and group therapy sessions for inmates using appropriate clinical techniques
  • Conduct interviews and administer psychological tests to evaluate inmate needs and guide treatment decisions
  • Coordinate with institutional departments and outside agencies to ensure effective service delivery
  • Provide crisis intervention and respond to urgent mental health needs following established procedures
  • Participate in committees and meetings to assist in treatment planning and institutional programming
