As a Dentist with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill, you will play an important part in ensuring access to quality dental care for those who need it most. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dental exams, diagnose oral diseases, and assess injuries for appropriate treatment
  • Provide basic dental care and carry out necessary clinical procedures for inmates
  • Support visiting specialists by assisting with on-site treatment and related tasks
  • Ensure security, tool control, and proper handling of toxic and caustic materials within the dental office
  • Consult with and refer patients to physicians, oral surgeons, or other health care professionals
  • Follow institutional procedures to maintain an organized and secure clinical environment
