About The Position

As a Psychological Services Specialist, Corrections with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill, you play an important role in helping inmates manage emotional and behavioral needs during a period of incarceration with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC). You support treatment goals through testing, counseling, and direct collaboration with clinical teams. Each day offers the chance to foster positive change and promote stability. This role focuses on providing psychological services that support inmate adjustment, treatment, and classification within the correctional setting. You conduct evaluations, prepare detailed reports, deliver counseling, and help develop new therapeutic programs in collaboration with leadership.

Requirements

  • Two years as a Psychological Services Associate Corrections (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • A Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology; and two years of experience in the field of psychology under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to address behavior, emotional needs, and treatment goals
  • Write reports for classification, clinical interviews, parole summaries, updates, evaluations, and other required documents
  • Administer and interpret standardized tests to support evaluation and diagnostic processes
  • Collaborate with the Licensed Psychologist Manager to create new education and therapeutic programs
  • Provide initial crisis intervention until additional professional services are coordinated
  • Coordinate with institutional departments and mental health facilities to support inmate needs
