About The Position

This position provides psychological services to inmates at SCI Waymart to support their emotional adjustment and mental health needs. As a Psychological Services Specialist, Corrections, you will perform the following duties: Counseling Services: Provide group and individual therapy sessions that address inmate behavior, emotions, and adjustment needs. Testing and Evaluation: Administer and interpret psychological tests and prepare reports on inmate capabilities and progress. Interdepartmental Coordination: Work with other institutional departments and outside agencies to support consistent delivery of mental health services. Research Support: Assist licensed psychologists with research activities that strengthen the institution's psychological services program. Intern Guidance: Offer direction and learning opportunities to student interns in testing and assessment tasks. Crisis Response: Provide crisis intervention and support for inmates in assessment housing units when needed.

Requirements

  • Two years as a Psychological Services Associate Corrections (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • A Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field which includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology; and two years of experience in the field of psychology under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.
