Requirements
- A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead structured activities, wellness sessions, sports, and other organized programs
- Direct groups of inmates during recreational activities and provide clear expectations for participation
- Provide rules, coaching, and basic officiating in various sports and recreation areas
- Monitor participation, review outcomes, and analyze findings to determine how well activities meet inmate needs and program goals
- Supervise inmate support in setting up, maintaining, and storing recreation equipment and spaces
- Request supplies and manage inventory to support ongoing program needs
