Requirements

• One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant.
• Possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11.
• Possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators.
• Possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily water treatment plant functions under normal and emergency conditions using manual and automatic systems
• Operate and service pumps, motors, valves, compressors, filters, and related equipment
• Test influent and effluent chemistry, maintain logs, and track chemical and supply inventory
• Complete paperwork, inventories, and documentation while communicating issues to supervisors
• Direct inmate workers, monitor movement, and maintain safe and secure work conditions
