About The Position

The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking an academic faculty psychiatrist for its Geriatric Psychiatry Division. This position is suitable for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. The successful candidate will have opportunities for clinical assignments at UNM Psychiatric Center, including a 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and outpatient clinics. Responsibilities include developing the unit's direction, multicultural clinical care, and scholarly and collaborative research activities. There are also opportunities for professional development in leadership, administration, and education, including mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees.

Requirements

Doctorate Degree (MD or equivalent).
Adult Board Certified or Board Eligible.
Proven clinical experience – minimum 1 year.
Licensable in New Mexico.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Educational, teaching and supervision experience with residents, fellows and medical students.
Clinical leadership experience in an academic setting.
Geriatric Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Responsibilities

Attending psychiatrist in a 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and outpatient clinics.
Developing the unit’s direction.
Multicultural clinical care.
Scholarly and collaborative research activities across the Health Sciences campus.
Mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees in related disciplines.
Professional development in leadership, administration, and education.
