About The Position

The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking an individual with a passion for geriatric psychiatry and teaching to join their faculty. This position is suitable for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor within the Geriatric Psychiatry Division. Clinical assignments will be at the UNM Psychiatric Center. The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to the development of a 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and outpatient clinics, engage in multicultural clinical care, and participate in scholarly and collaborative research activities across the Health Sciences campus. There are also opportunities for professional development in leadership, administration, and education, including mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees.

Requirements

Doctorate Degree (MD or equivalent)
Adult Board Certified or Board Eligible
Proven clinical experience – minimum 1 year
Licensable in New Mexico
Must be eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

Educational, teaching and supervision experience with residents, fellows and medical students
Clinical leadership experience in an academic setting
Geriatric Board Certified or Board Eligible

Responsibilities

Serve as an attending psychiatrist in the 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and outpatient clinics.
Participate in developing the unit’s direction.
Engage in multicultural clinical care.
Conduct scholarly and collaborative research activities.
Mentor and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, and trainees in related disciplines.
Take advantage of opportunities for professional development in leadership, administration, and education.
