The Psychiatry Residency Training Director provides psychiatric leadership to an ACGME-accredited program at BMC Brighton for 0.5 FTE and inpatient psychiatry coverage- clinical and supervising residents for 0.5 FTE. This role involves preparing resident graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and a lifelong quest for learning to achieve board certification and provide state-of-the-art patient care. It also ensures an educational experience enabling resident physicians to practice their chosen specialty independently and competently. The director will oversee the clinical work of psychiatry trainees, serve as site director for clinical rotations, and ensure their work and documentation align with best practices. Additionally, the role includes providing psychiatric coverage after business hours, during weekends, and holidays through an on-call system, and offering direct psychiatric services including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of inpatient psychiatry patients. The director will also make final decisions regarding patient admissions and discharges and participate in administrative duties as assigned by the Chair of Psychiatry, which may include committee membership, community education, research, and academic activities. The individual must be a member in good standing of the Medical Staff at BMC Brighton and adhere to Medical Staff Bylaws and Department of Psychiatry Rules and Regulations.
