St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is seeking interested psychiatrists to work in our Forensic Program. The successful candidate would provide Forensic Early Intervention Service (FEIS) and support at the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre and in the community. The successful candidate would also be actively involved in conducting forensic assessments, would be responsible for the care of some patients on our inpatient units, and would manage a patient caseload within our outpatient clinics, specialty units, and select forensic clinics as opportunities arise. At this time, we are seeking interested psychiatrists who could provide 0.8 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) service and support to join our Forensic Program.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario CPSO license
  • Trained forensic psychiatrist with subspecialty qualification and FRCPC or equivalent
  • Eligible for a faculty position with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University
  • Interest and aptitude for teaching and/or clinical research

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation services to the FEIS
  • Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing and allied health staff
  • Participate in weekly interdisciplinary meetings and case conferences
  • Conduct forensic assessments and manage a caseload of inpatients and outpatients
