About The Position

The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to incarcerated patients and supports mental health and healthcare staff through clinical consultation. The role delivers direct psychiatric services in accordance with professional standards and organizational guidelines, collaborating with facility leadership and interdisciplinary teams to provide consistent, effective care. The Psychiatrist supports continuity of care through treatment planning, follow-up, and coordination with mental health services. This is a part-time, onsite position for 8 hours. The position is available only to individuals who reside in the United States.

Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited university, with specialty training in psychiatry.
Experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
Current DEA registration, unless the CPO determines it is optional.
Current BLS certification.
Must reside in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Experience providing psychiatric services to an adolescent population is preferred for youth facility clinical assignments.
Corrections experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care using independent medical judgment.
Monitor psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects, adjusting treatment as clinically indicated.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership and care teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call services.
Support referrals, transfers, crisis intervention, and clinical collaboration with mental health and medical staff.
