Psychiatrist - PT Onsite (8 hours)
About The Position
The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to incarcerated patients and offers clinical consultation to mental health and healthcare staff. The role delivers direct psychiatric services in accordance with professional standards and organizational guidelines, and works with facility leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support consistent, effective care. The Psychiatrist also promotes continuity of care through treatment planning, follow-up, and coordination with mental health services. This is an onsite, part-time position with an eight-hour schedule. The position is available only to individuals who reside in the United States.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited university, with specialty training in psychiatry.
- Experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
- Current DEA registration, unless determined optional by the CPO.
- Current BLS certification.
- Must reside in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Experience providing psychiatric services to an adolescent population, preferred for youth facility clinical assignments.
- Corrections experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care using independent medical judgment.
- Monitor psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects, and adjust treatment as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership and care teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call services.
- Support referrals, transfers, crisis intervention, and clinical collaboration with mental health and medical staff.
