About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to an adult population in a team-based model at Richmond Hospital. Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 200,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. The hospital is focused on meeting the needs of the people it serves and is undergoing plans for a campus-wide expansion and renewal, including a new acute care tower with increased inpatient care beds, perioperative services, medical imaging, and emergency services, with a project completion target of 2028. A client-centered, recovery-focused approach is expected, along with engaging community partners. Comprehensive care is provided in the 2 West unit for the full spectrum of psychiatric disorders in the general adult population.

Requirements

• Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience of working in an inpatient unit is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, and would liaise and collaborate with the primary care team for integrated patient care.
• Provide assessment, daily management, rounding on psychiatric clients admitted to the unit.
• Work as an integral part of the team providing leadership as the Most Responsible Physician in treating the patients.
