About The Position

The Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida is seeking a psychiatrist to join the Student Health psychiatry team which includes MDs and psychiatric Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The is a full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor faculty position and will be at the forefront of providing comprehensive psychiatric care to UF students facing diverse mental health challenges, including general mental health disorders, trauma, eating disorders, and substance abuse disorders. Additionally, the role includes maintaining clinical records and participating in after-hours psychiatric emergency services serving the UF student community. The candidate’s impact will extend beyond direct student care as collaboration with various campus entities is integral to our mission to help every student achieve optimal health in the pursuit of personal and academic success. Guided by the Director of the SHCC, you'll operate with independence while collaborating closely with a talented team of medical professionals, including Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). This position is non-tenure accruing. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications. UF Student Health Care Center Psychiatry (SHP) is committed to addressing mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions through a comprehensive range of services, including psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, coordination of care with other professionals, and medication management. The SHCC is fully accredited by the AAAHC and is located in a state-of-the-art WELL-certified building on UF’s campus. Medical services offered at the SHCC include primary care, sports medicine, urgent care, gynecology, psychiatry, allergy/immunization clinic, and travel medicine. Radiology, pharmacy, lab, and physical therapy are also on-site.

Requirements

• Applicants must have a M.D. or D.O. degree and be licensed in or eligible for licensure in the State of Florida and be board certified/board eligible.
• Completed residency in psychiatry.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine, or Child & Adolescent.
• Prior clinical experience working with the collegiate-age population.

Responsibilities

• Provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication evaluation, treatment, follow-up care, and crisis intervention/emergency services for students with general mental health issues as well as those with trauma, eating disorders, alcohol/substance abuse issues.
• Provides psychiatric consultation services, as requested, to Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) therapy staff, Student Health Care Center (SHCC) medical providers, student groups, and faculty and staff within the UF community (i.e., Housing and Residence Education, Dean of Students Office, Disability Resource Center, RecSports, University Athletic Association, UF Police Department, etc.).
• Maintains clinical records on findings and treatments following established charting guidelines.
• Provides regular back-up and after-hours psychiatric emergency/urgent duties with other Student Health Psychiatry (SHP) staff.
• There are opportunities to teach residents and medical students on elective rotations during patient care activities at the Student Health Care Center.
• This position will also participate in educational conferences, seminars, and lectures and share in faculty duties as assigned.
