About The Position

Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) is seeking a Per Diem Psychiatrist to join their team. OCHS is dedicated to providing a full range of primary health care and supportive social services to the ten outermost towns of Cape Cod, serving over 20,000 patients annually with a commitment to ensuring no one is denied access to services due to inability to pay. The organization operates as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, prioritizing timely access to care and ensuring staff work at the top of their licenses. Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
  • Eligibility for malpractice insurance.
  • Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and well-being.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational abilities, computer experience, and the ability to work within a collaborative team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – bi-lingual helpful.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft office, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community-based psychiatry and collaborative care models is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric consultation for patients referred by primary care, including diagnosis assessment, treatment planning, and management of psychiatric conditions.
  • Assist primary care providers with diagnostic clarification and determination of appropriate levels of behavioral health and psychiatric care.
  • Provide recommendations regarding psychotropic medications, including medication selection, dosing, monitoring, potential interactions, and treatment response.
  • Work closely with primary care clinicians to integrate psychiatric care into the overall healthcare plan.
  • Collaborate on assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans to maximize patients' well-being.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in collaborating with all team members within the Psychiatry team and the Primary Care team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Deliver evidence-based psychiatric care, incorporating the latest research and best practices into patient treatment plans.
  • Prioritize patient-centered care, fostering a therapeutic alliance with patients and their families to achieve optimal mental health outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and timely completion of all documentation, coding and billing within 72 hours of direct patient care.
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatry through continuous education and training activities, sharing knowledge and expertise with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of psychiatric services within OCHS.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards, demonstrate empathy, cultural competence, and sensitivity in patient interactions.
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned.
