About The Position

The staff psychiatrist serves as the leader of a Treatment Team and provides direct medical and psychiatric care to patients assigned to that team. The psychiatrist also provides consultation to colleagues, supervises nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as requested, and participates in the Medical Professional Staff organization.

Requirements

• Be licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Hold a current DEA certificate.
• Have completed an approved residency program in Psychiatry.
• Hold current BLS or ACLS certification. ACLS certification is required for those wishing to provide on-call MOD coverage at night, weekends, or holidays.
• Demonstrate satisfactory training, skill, expertise, and knowledge in the treatment of psychiatric patients.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred but not required.
• Work experience with inpatient psychiatric populations is preferred.
