About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Psychiatric Unit Support Coordinator who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Psychiatric Unit Support Coordinator, you will communicate (in-person or on the telephone) with both internal and external customers in a manner consistent with AHC Values/Standards of Behavior. You will provide exceptional customer service, acknowledging patient and visitor concerns, maintaining tactfulness and flexibility during stressful situations, and utilize chain of command as appropriate. Demonstrate appropriate de-escalation techniques as per training. Stay knowledgeable and precise in coordination of services. Provide resources needed for department to function efficiently. Seek proactive solutions in problem solving. Participate in improving work flow, patient throughput, and communication between units. Participate in supply chain management and equipment maintenance process. Escort patients off unit to emergency department, cafeteria, gymnasium, courtyard/outside activities, or off campus appointments as needed/ordered. Assist with visitation per policy and as assigned. Round on patients, at minimum, every 15 minutes as assigned on assignment sheet and document according to policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service experience required
  • Ability to prioritize effectively required
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Certification required
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
