Psychiatric Technician - Adult Inpatient
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, the Psychiatric Technician assists nurses in observing and monitoring patients’ behavior and physical condition. The role includes providing basic patient care, such as helping patients with personal hygiene and daily living activities as delegated and in accordance with nursing care plans and policies. The technician builds therapeutic relationships, encourages participation in recreational and other therapeutic activities, and helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. The position is located at the Institute of Living, which provides behavioral, psychiatric, and addiction disorder care, research, and education for children, adolescents, and adults.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Strong communication skills.
- Complete CPR training and crisis intervention training within three months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a psychiatric-mental health setting or a medical-surgical healthcare setting.
- For roles serving a specialty population, such as geriatrics or children and adolescents, previous experience with that population.
