The Psychiatric Technician will observe, report, and document signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to the charge nurse. This role involves interacting with patients therapeutically, assisting in and participating in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities. The technician will use CPI techniques appropriately, make rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour, and demonstrate flexibility in changing workloads. Responding to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality, and participating in unit-based process improvement activities and committees are key aspects of this position. On-call duties may be requested by administration, and all mandatory training as per facility policy must be completed.
