Psych Nurse (RN) - Day or Night Shift
About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our team on the night shift, providing exceptional mental health care in a dynamic hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively during overnight hours. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Shifts Available: Days (7am - 7pm), rotating weekends; Nights (7pm - 7am), rotating weekends Sign-on Bonus: $5,000, with commitment
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current Louisianna state certification.
- Must have prior experience working in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
- Experience as an ER nurse in also highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of mental health assessment tools, medication administration, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care units is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to handle acute pain management and emergency response procedures effectively.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Critical care experience or background in hospital medicine enhances suitability for this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients with diverse mental health needs, including crisis intervention and stabilization.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and risk assessments.
- Administer medications accurately, including psychotropic agents, and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or behavioral escalations using de-escalation techniques and crisis management protocols.
