About The Position

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a full-time, board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for its inpatient adult dual diagnosis, chemical dependency, and addiction programs. The hospital is a 126-bed private psychiatric facility in Harahan, Louisiana, serving adults, adolescents, and children. The inpatient role primarily serves patients ages 18 and older; cross-coverage and call may include patients age 12 and older, and weekend call covers all ages. The position is hospital-employed and onsite, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a negotiable caseload of approximately 15–20 patients daily. Call includes one overnight telephonic night per week and a 1:4 weekend rotation. The practitioner works with a multidisciplinary team that includes behavioral health technicians and nurses, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, and therapists. Duties include patient evaluations and assessments, medication management, treatment-team management, daily patient care, and related administrative work.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited master's-level Nurse Practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatry.
Hold PMHNP certification.
Have an active Louisiana license and DEA registration, or be able to obtain them.
Be willing to treat patients ages 12 and older for cross-coverage and call.
Be very comfortable treating patients with dual diagnosis, chemical dependency, and addiction.

Responsibilities

Conduct patient evaluations and assessments.

Perform administrative duties related to patient care.
