About The Position

Project Renewal is a large social service agency in New York City, operating Federal Qualified Health Centers, Article 28 Diagnostic and Treatment Centers, and OASAS licensed sites, including mobile health units. We provide empathic, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction services at low or no cost, without barriers, to clients facing severe mental illnesses, co-occurring substance use disorders, and multiple chronic medical conditions. Requirements

  • New York State Medical License and Registration
  • Board certified in Psychiatry
  • In Person Coverage required a minimum of 3 days per week
  • Excellent oral, writing and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and create and coordinate schedules
  • Ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially WORD and EXCEL

  • Buprenorphine waiver preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all psychiatric care at the shelter, including coordination with Embedded Nursing staff for medication administration.
  • Provides psychiatric evaluations for individuals referred for assessment of psychiatric conditions or for entitlements and housing.
  • Provides psychiatric follow-up care, including psychopharmacology and supportive psychotherapy.
  • Adheres to agency policy for health screening and laboratory monitoring.
  • Provides crisis intervention and assessment as needed.
  • Liaises with outside psychiatric and medical providers in collaboration with the on-site nurse.
  • Completes documentation in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Participates in weekly clinical team meetings at the shelter.
  • Provides case consultation to interdisciplinary staff, such as case managers.
  • Attends bimonthly group supervision with fellow providers and Healthcare Department Meetings.
  • Willing to participate in education and training to deliver care via telepsychiatry as needed.
  • Participates in agency quality assurance processes as requested by the Medical Director.
  • May participate in the supervision of medical students or residents as arranged with the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services.
