About The Position

Provide psychiatric and mental health services to clinic patients at UW Family Medicine Clinic located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • 1-3 years direct clinic care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders preferred
  • National certification in degree specialty (AANP or ANCC).
  • RN with APRN Recognition
  • State of Wyoming Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner License, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • DEA Registration
  • WY Controlled Substance Registration, or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Valid CPR certification (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Eligible to work in the United States. Sponsorship for H1-B work authorization or work visa is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to provide psychiatric care across the lifespan, including both pediatric/adolescent and adult populations.
  • Experience delivering behavioral health services via telemedicine platforms.
  • Competence in prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, including monitoring for potential side effects and interactions.
  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans for common mental health conditions.
  • Experience in treating individuals with substance use disorders, including opioid dependency.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team and coordinate care with primary care providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and management of health and illness states. To do this, the clinician obtains and documents a relevant health history, performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and diagnoses psychiatric disorders. The clinician then develops a treatment plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on biopsychosocial theories, evidence-based standards of care, and practice guidelines. Psychotropic and related medications are prescribed based on clinical indicators of a patient’s status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests as appropriate, to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status.
  • Coordinate referrals and ongoing access to primary and other health care services for patients.
  • Provide consultation to and seek consultation from other health care clinicians to enhance quality and cost effective services for patients.
  • Maintain patient's electronic medical record and accurately document each patient encounter.
  • Participate in medical staff meetings; maintenance and promotion of accreditation standards; guidance to support staff; collaborate with colleagues to provide integrated health within the clinic structure.
