About The Position

This is a training position for a masters-level nurse who has obtained or is eligible to obtain state and federal licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist. The individual will receive supervision in prescribing essentials from two providers and attend in-house training with post-docs and psychiatric NP students. In a student role, they will provide psychiatric consultation to Lynn Community Health Center case managers, medical, mental health, and substance abuse providers, as well as community providers when appropriate. The role involves triaging psychiatric inpatient admissions, assisting in discharge treatment plans, maintaining patient progress notes, charting all medications, and completing quality assurance activities for the Quality Assurance Committee. The position also requires attending case conferences for assigned clients and consulting with other agencies and schools regarding the Health Center's psychiatric services. Direct psychodiagnostic, psychotherapeutic treatments, psychopharmacological evaluation management, and therapy will be provided to registered clients. Additionally, the role includes participating in LCHC community outreach efforts, which may involve serving as a health consultant for local schools and organizations, providing programmatic consultation, preparing/reviewing health-related policies, and participating in health screenings, education programs, or counseling at community events.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree in mental health related area.
  • Licensure or license eligible to practice psychiatric nursing in Massachusetts.
  • Certified or eligible as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist in Massachusetts (APRN)
  • History of good attendance and positive work attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide biopsychosocial clinical evaluations.
  • Utilize DSM IV diagnoses.
  • Design client-centered treatment plan with appropriate interventions.
  • Provide ongoing treatment evaluation and redesign.
  • Provide direct care to multi-problem patients and their families.
  • Participate on interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide psychotherapy to registered LCHC patients.
  • Maintain required patient records.
  • Participate in case conferences.
  • Present cases for peer review.
  • Be available for consultation with other agencies.
  • Assist psychiatrists at medication clinics for adult, adolescents, and child clients when appropriate.
