About The Position
Backpack Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join their growing Michigan clinical team. This part-time, remote role offers the flexibility of telehealth practice while emphasizing collaboration and support. Backpack Healthcare provides accessible mental health care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth, operating as a clinician-led and minority-owned organization. PMHNPs are integrated into an interdisciplinary care team alongside therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators, ensuring collaborative support for each child and family. Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Michigan PMHNP license
- PMHNP-BC board certification
- Active DEA license
- Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
- Experience with—or a strong interest in—working with children, adolescents, and families
- Comfort working independently in a telehealth environment
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and genuine empathy
- Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth, focusing on evidence-based, family-centered treatment.
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop diagnostic formulations.
- Create individualized treatment plans in partnership with patients and families.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress.
- Provide brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation alongside medication management.
- Collaborate with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through regular case consultation.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
