About The Position

Light Counseling is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join their team as a 1099 independent contractor. Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
  • Prescriptive authority with active DEA registration
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatric care
  • Ability to work with adolescent and adult populations
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of mental health conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload in a fast-paced outpatient setting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort working with diverse populations
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of PMHNP experience
  • Experience with telehealth and integrated care models
  • Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in working in a faith-based environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications in compliance with regulations
  • Provide brief psychotherapy and patient education when appropriate
  • Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests as needed
  • Collaborate with therapists and other providers to support coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Participate in team meetings as desired
  • Provide care for children, adolescent and adult populations
