About The Position
Light Counseling is a mission-driven practice that has provided professional, confidential, and distinctly Christian mental health services for over 30 years. They offer counseling, medication management, and psychological testing, integrating faith-based principles with evidence-based clinical care. They are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join their team as a 1099 independent contractor. Requirements
- Strong clinical knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology
- Ability to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of mental health conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage a caseload in a fast-paced outpatient setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort working with diverse populations
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP)
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
- Prescriptive authority with active DEA registration
- Experience in outpatient psychiatric care
- Ability to work with adolescent and adult populations
- Ability to pass required background checks

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications in compliance with regulations
- Provide brief psychotherapy and patient education when appropriate
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests as needed
- Collaborate with therapists and other providers to support coordinated care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Participate in team meetings as desired
- Provide care for children, adolescent and adult populations
