About The Position

This position involves assessing and evaluating the nursing and medical needs of institutionalized patients. The nurse will initiate and direct the implementation of nursing care plans, observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior, condition, and response to medication, treatments, and therapeutic activities. Responsibilities include coordinating clinical and medical appointments, providing professional nursing care such as administering medications and treatments as ordered by a physician, assisting with physical examinations, and taking/recording vital signs. The role also involves assisting patients with feeding and grooming when needed, and being responsible for patient/family teaching and responding to emergencies. Additionally, the nurse will direct the delivery and evaluation of psychiatric and nursing care provided by lower-level staff on their assigned shift, monitor LPN medication administration, documentation, patient care, and equipment operation, and assist in orienting and training new nursing services employees. The role requires preparing and reviewing records and reports (e.g., incidents, restraints/seclusions, nursing care plans, shift reports, transfers, admissions, and discharges), updating nursing care plans, transcribing/verifying doctors' orders, and writing/reviewing treatment plans and nursing summaries. The nurse will serve as an interdisciplinary treatment team member, attend seminars, meetings, and conferences, and attend, conduct, and participate in in-service training sessions/programs.

Requirements

Knowledge of professional nursing procedures

Responsibilities
