About The Position

This position provides direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse while supporting therapeutic goals and daily routines. You help patients with everyday tasks, communicate clearly with staff, and maintain a safe treatment environment.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities
  • Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living tasks including hygiene, meals, and room care
  • Use communication techniques and crisis management skills to guide patient interactions
  • Follow hospital procedures and infection control practices to maintain a secure environment
  • Monitor and report patient behavior, condition, and changes to nursing staff
  • Support individualized treatment plans and help patients participate in scheduled activities
  • Document patient care information clearly and accurately in medical records
