About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse on the Mood/Detox unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), working night shifts. The role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will effectively communicate patient information to the healthcare team, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning as per Board of Nursing standards. The unit is a 24-bed facility caring for adult patients (18+) treated for various psychiatric illnesses such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance misuse disorder.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved discipline program
1 year of RN experience
Active RN license
One year of direct psychiatric nursing experience

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
