About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care under the supervision of licensed nurses, following local and regulatory policies and procedures. The role collaborates with healthcare team members and correctional officers to plan and carry out patient care in a correctional setting. After general orientation to medical-surgical and psychiatric patient care areas, the Nursing Assistant may float between units to support adequate staffing. This position is listed as Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a Nursing Assistant training course.
Knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
Ability to handle routine tasks and keep work flowing in an orderly manner.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Ability to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position if working with specific patients.
Ability to express thoughts logically in English, both in writing and verbally.
Ability to use computers and typical software, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems.
Current certification in the state of practice.
Must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

Provide basic nursing care under a licensed nurse’s direction, including assistance with activities of daily living, vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
Maintain professional behavior and prioritize workflow to complete assigned duties while following policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
Collaborate with the healthcare team, participate in staff meetings and training sessions, and notify the licensed nurse of patient concerns or issues.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of nursing procedures and use medical supplies and equipment proficiently, ensuring they are properly stored and cleaned.
Perform other duties assigned by the supervising nurse, including assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.
