The Protective Services Specialist will work 3 12-hour days per week, with the possibility of working any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, as security is a 24/7 operation. The role involves initiating and receiving communications, documenting safety and security information, patrolling hospital properties, and responding to emergency codes and requests for assistance. The specialist will act independently to manage critical situations, ensure the safety of hospital associates, patients, and visitors, and assist in moving individuals to safety, bringing safety equipment to emergency scenes, and restraining individuals as necessary to maintain a safe environment. Additionally, the role includes participating in security and safety committees, serving as a departmental resource specialist, assisting in policy and procedure development, evaluating protective measures, preparing recommendations, conducting investigations, developing and conducting awareness programs, and participating in new employee orientation. The specialist will also maintain professional competence through continuing education and stay informed of current trends in hospital security and safety, serving as a role model.
