About The Position

The Protective Services Agent supports the mission of the Department of Campus Safety by fostering and maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role involves providing protection to NYU’s President, Provost, VIPs, Dignitaries, and controversial speakers visiting NYU properties. The agent will also supervise Campus Safety Officers (CSO) and Contract Security personnel during executive protection details as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years campus safety experience
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
• Knowledge of security best practices and procedures
• Analytical skills and objective observance of situations and quick decision making
• Skill in motivating subordinates
• Skill in managing situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and impartially
• Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license
• Must possess skills to de-escalate tense situations and remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays to meet the needs of the department as well as overtime
• Applicants must be in good health and must have and retain physical strength, including the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., physical stamina, and agility, visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of his position
• Applicants must be able to operate departmental equipment, including radios, use hands repetitively, and have the ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non-emergency situations
• Successfully complete a background screening, drug testing, and an employment physical
