About The Position

SOCOTEC is seeking a Proposal Writer for its expanding Buildings & Real Estate (BRE) team. This role will support SOCOTEC’s specialized building envelope, sustainability, energy efficiency, code advisory, commissioning, fire/life safety, and special inspection/testing groups. The Proposal Writer will be integral to supporting the BRE practice, with a specific focus on developing proposals for private and public-sector clients, strengthening SOCOTEC’s relationships in the marketplace with high-quality proposals and collateral, and serving as an in-office resource for multiple service line leaders. This is a full-time role with the expectation that a minimum of 4 days per week are in-person in the office, with up to one day per week remote.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is required.
Exceptional analytical, creative problem solving and written communication skills.
Maintain composure and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines while managing multiple proposals simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

1 to 2 years of experience in proposal writing and estimating, with experience working at an architecture, engineering, marketing or consulting firm is desirable.
Familiar with Microsoft Copilot and Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign).
Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is desirable.

Responsibilities

Participate in daily team scrum to review proposal priorities and progress.
Review assigned proposal requests, assess proposal requirements and identify appropriate team leaders that will provide input on proposal scope and fees.
Develop technical proposals based on existing proposal templates, and corresponding estimates for level of effort and fees.
Conduct research, gather information, and attend meetings with service line leaders to ensure proposals reflect SOCOTEC’s expertise and competitive advantages.
Review proposals and estimates with technical team leaders; update according to their input and ensure compliance with client requirements.
Collaborate with internal Legal and Finance teams as necessary to produce complete proposal packages.
Collaborate with fellow proposal writers, review proposal language for clarity, accuracy, grammar and spelling.
Contact clients/prospects to obtain any additional information needed to develop the proposal and confirm proposal receipt.
Collect, enter and maintain client and project data in our CRM platform (Deltek).
Coordinate with the Proposal Team Manager to refine templates, narratives, and graphics based on client needs and regional feedback.
