About The Position

The Math Learning Center (MLC) is a non-profit education organization with a track record of developing high-quality mathematics materials, including Bridges in Mathematics curriculum. We create programs that engage students, promote classroom community and discourse, and help more than 80,000 elementary teachers across the country deliver effective mathematics instruction. As our Proposal Specialist, you’ll bring together the people, information, and customer insights needed to create compelling proposals, from opportunity to submission. You’ll partner with colleagues and subject matter experts across MLC to translate our work into clear, persuasive responses that demonstrate how we support students and educators. You’ll also help enhance the internal proposal process, making it easier for teams to collaborate, stay on track, and put our best work forward. This position is based in Oregon. In this hybrid or fully onsite role, office days are either in our Portland or Salem office.

Requirements

• Two or more years of experience writing and coordinating RFPs, proposals, grants, or similar complex submissions.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly and persuasively.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through, particularly when managing complex requirements and deadlines.
• Ability to learn and communicate about MLC's products, services, educational approach, and value proposition.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in education and/or familiarity with state curriculum adoption processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write winning proposals that reflect MLC's value proposition.
• Bring together cross-functional contributors and subject matter experts to ensure proposal responses are accurate, complete, compelling, and aligned with MLC's philosophy.
• Coordinate MLC’s state curriculum adoption review process.
• Take ownership of the project timelines from beginning to end, including writing, review, and submission of completed proposals.
• Through collaboration, develop an understanding of MLC’s offerings, competitive differentiation, market trends, and customer needs in order to develop effective strategies for proposal responses.
• For each opportunity, research the organization’s strategic plans and priorities to inform MLC’s response and how to position our learning solutions to align with these priorities.
• Report on proposal outcomes, with a focus on implementing innovative ideas to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of proposal responses.
• Project manage each pursuit, tracking concurrent work across the team and actively communicating with contributors.
• Consult, add, and update customer information in Salesforce to support cross-team visibility.
