About The Position

Chenega Corporation’s PSSBU is seeking a Proposal Intern who will support the Proposal Center of Excellence (PCOE) in managing/coordinating proposal efforts and authoring/editing content for proposals (responses to Requests for Proposal/Quote [RFP/Q]) and Requests for Information (RFIs) responses for current and potential clients. The Proposal Intern will support Proposal Manager in ensuring we are following the Bid & Proposal (B&P) Process and support the PCOE members during pre-RFP activities and post-RFP proposal development. This individual will assist Proposal Manager(s) and Proposal Writers as they work with key stakeholders—Executive Sponsor, Capture Manager, Business Development (BD) team, Program/Project Manager, VP of Proposal Development, and Lead subject matter experts (SMEs)—to develop the corporate and executive summaries, technical solution and methodologies, proposal sections (when necessary), etc. in order to shape and deliver the document—both independently and as a member of a team to develop RFI documents and proposal sections. This documents/sections include, but not limited to: past performance sections/volumes, technical approaches, management plans, business proposals, and other documents in support of the overall proposal effort. The Proposal Intern will support Proposal Writers in collecting, tailoring, and translating content from key stakeholders and assigned SMEs. Additionally, this individual will support the Proposal Manager in editing text to ensure clarity and consistency in approach and compliance to RFP requirements and process. Requirements

  • In college/university working towards a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 0-2 years’ experience as a technical writer.
  • Superior grammar, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently author sections/articles/projects, with a focus on compliance, quality, and timeliness.
  • Strong editing and proof-reading skills as well as an understanding of industry standard best practices.
  • Creativity, flexibility, organization, time management, and listening skills.
  • Ability to adhere to internal development and response deadlines.
  • Compliance with all processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with business development executives on special projects and initiatives (white papers, website content, and other marketing material).
  • Expert-level ability in Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in document structure, Word styles, templates, charts, and graphs.
  • Microsoft Teams experience and working knowledge desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience authoring college or professional newspaper articles, proposals in response to government RFP/I/Qs or similar documents in federal contracting and/or government environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal government contracting desired.

Responsibilities

  • Research information on a broad base of PSSBU functional areas and assist proposal team members in describing the principles, operations, and basic concepts in clear simple language.
  • Research information (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats [SWOT] analysis) on identified incumbents and competitors per a specific proposal effort as well as possible competitors
  • Assist essential team members in the development of storyboards, outlines, win themes, approach/methodologies, and strategies.
  • Assist assigned PCOE members with the interviewing and directly working with subject matter experts, program managers, and the business development team collecting, tailoring, and translating content to ensure appropriate messaging in compliance with solicitation documentation including RFPs, RFTOPs, Amendments, and Answers to Questions.
  • Assist assigned PCOE members with rewriting response text to ensure a 6Cs (Clear & Concise, Consistent, Compelling, and Competitive while maintaining Compliancy) response in a timely manner following established RFP process.
  • Assist in creating and using proposal tools and templates following Chenega PSSBU B&P standards and best practices.
  • Write original text and edit technical data prepared by others.
  • Maintain documentation within SharePoint for future reference.
  • Ensure proposals are compliant, properly formatted and aligned with Chenega standards.
  • Ensure timely completion and accuracy of all work.
