About The Position
Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Insurance Company, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group, is seeking a Property Pricing Intern for its Alpharetta, Georgia office. This internship offers opportunities to work with a successful company known for its financial strength and stability, combining large company benefits with a friendly, small company atmosphere. The intern will work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with flexible hours of 15-30 per week during the school year and 30-40 per week in the summer.
Requirements
- Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
- Major in business, math, or equivalent
- Work with detail and accuracy
- Strong math skills
- Excellent grammar, proofreading and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of fundamental concepts of insurance (including coverages & pricing)
- An understanding of basic commercial property insurance pricing and the organization of pricing data
Responsibilities
- Collection and analysis of data to determine pricing of various property characteristics
- Interaction with state departments of insurance to gain approval of desired rates where needed, and interaction with internal programming team to ensure accurate implementation of rates.
- Communication of pricing decisions and results via regular and ad hoc reports
- Regular review of live policies to check for accurate rating
