Property Management Intern
About The Position
The Property Management Intern will support JLL’s River Ridge Retail Property Management team in Lynchburg, Virginia. The internship provides early-career exposure to commercial real estate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, team-oriented environment, with opportunities to learn about multiple lines of business and work alongside the retail property management group. The role covers retail leasing, property management financials and operations, project management, client communication, tenant relations, marketing, and administrative work. Interns will also gain exposure to JLL systems, including Dealtrak, Dealio, and Yardi. The position is on-site. Relocation assistance and housing are not offered. Candidates must have permanent U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship is not provided.
Requirements
- Be a current junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in real estate, finance, or another business-related field.
- Have a desire to work in the commercial real estate or property management industry.
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills and an ability to establish relationships with people at all organizational levels and with external clients.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using and applying technology tools and a willingness to continually develop technology skills.
- Have a proven track record of results; act decisively, think big, and manage time to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship; permanent U.S. work authorization is required.
Responsibilities
- Support the River Ridge Retail Property Management team across various departments.
- Learn retail leasing fundamentals across property types.
- Learn to read management agreements and leases.
- Assist with understanding and crafting new and renewal deals, including deal components and negotiations.
- Participate in canvassing and networking.
- Support marketing and events.
- Learn prospecting practices and how to optimize a center’s tenant mix.
- Gain exposure to financials of retail property management, project management, client communication, operations, tenant relations, and property management administration.
- Gain exposure to JLL systems, including Dealtrak, Dealio, and Yardi.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
