About The Position

We are currently seeking a Property Maintenance Technician to support day‑to‑day operations at Avalon Park - a vibrant, family‑oriented community in Ottawa’s St. Laurent neighbourhood just east of downtown. This hands‑on role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional committed to supporting a community of more than 800 residents, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining modern, high‑quality living spaces.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in property maintenance, building operations, or facilities support role.
  • General understanding of residential building systems (e.g., kitchen & bathroom fixtures, doors, appliances, lighting).
  • Comfortable working both independently and part of a team.
  • Physically capable of performing routine manual tasks, including bending, kneeling, lifting, and extended periods of walking.
  • Functional English verbal communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
  • Ability to provide professional references and have a proven record of reliable work attendance.

  • The ideal candidate lives close enough to Avalon to respond quickly to emergency resident inquiries (within about 10–15 minutes).
  • This role requires participation in an on-call rotation schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to routine and urgent maintenance requests from residents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performing general maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to building systems, suites, and common areas.
  • Support the ongoing upkeep and safe operation of property amenities, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and repairs.
  • Assist with seasonal property operations, including landscaping and snow removal.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and safe.
  • Work collaboratively with site staff, management, and external vendors as required.
  • Adhere to all workplace health & safety policies and report safety hazards to management.
