About The Position

Reviews, enforces, and monitors compliance to specific statutes, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies through on-site audits, reviews, and inspections. Investigates complaints, determines specific violations, and issues citations for code violations when warranted. Recommends and coordinates implementation of appropriate corrective action and resolution. Documents and prepares reports. Provides information to the public and organizations relative to various topics, explaining and interpreting statutes, rules and regulations and policies. Provides testimony in legal proceedings. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED
One or more years of professional or technical experience in environmental public health or code enforcement.
Knowledge of principals, practices and terminology of environmental health and code enforcement.
Ability to read, interpret and apply legal provisions, departmental policies, and other written guidelines.
Skilled in reacting effectively and calmly in difficult public contact situations.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

Additional college-level courses in science and/or conflict resolution preferred.
