About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Property Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our hotel facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel engineering, with experience in various maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general repairs. You will be responsible for completing work orders, collaborating with other departments, and ensuring guest satisfaction through prompt and effective issue resolution. This position also involves significant responsibility in emergency situations as a Fire Safety Director, requiring adherence to safety codes and effective communication with emergency services and building occupants.

Requirements

  • Previous hotel engineering experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of Hotel Engineering experience, preferably in a New York City Hotel.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, painting/spackling, light plumbing, and light electrical.
  • Great communication skills, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detail in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work in a team environment and welcome feedback and direction.
  • Capable of standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, climb up and down stairs, walk, and carry multiple objects.
  • High school or equivalent (Required).
  • Hiring is contingent on eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of experience as an engineer working in the service industry.
  • FSD Certification a plus.
  • Be able to speak, write and understand the primary language of the workplace.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and possess basic computer skills.
  • 2 Year/ 4 Year Degree from an accredited College/University (Preferred).
  • Relevant Advanced trainings and certifications preferred.
  • FSD certification.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ensure professional and informative interactions with all guests and staff members.
  • Precisely and effectively complete all allocated work orders daily or report inadequate orders for rescheduling.
  • Comply with Hotel processes to perform maintenance, installation, or repair as needed.
  • Perform painting, spackling, light plumbing, and electrical tasks.
  • Use ladders of different styles and complete work at elevated areas.
  • Complete tasks on/around rooftop areas, chillers, water towers, etc.
  • Maintain and repair all hotel equipment for full functionality.
  • Follow the most recent state and government legislative codes, laws, and prerequisites.
  • Identify issues, create solutions, and take actions to resolve guest-related issues promptly.
  • Fill out engineering reports daily to record completed tasks or pass-on information.
  • Respond to job requests from all areas of the hotel in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with different departments (carpenters, electricians, engineers, painters, contractors) on renovations and repairs.
  • Follow all safety guidelines as a fire safety director during emergencies.
  • Ensure FSD logbooks are up to date with current hotel activities.
  • Communicate with the fire department and monitor the fire command station during emergencies.
  • Make building announcements during false alarms, tests, or real emergencies as a FSD.
  • Ensure boiler cleaning logs are up to date and boilers are cleaned as necessary.
  • Precisely record equipment readings, meter readings, and maintain accurate logs.
  • Ensure guest room preventative maintenance is performed according to procedures.
  • Ensure guest room and public area filters are changed frequently as instructed.
