About The Position

In this role, you will manage resident and detention facility property accountability operations by maintaining accurate inventory records, secure storage procedures, and chain-of-custody documentation. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to maintain property security within a detention environment.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience in property management, inventory control, or a high-volume administrative role within a law enforcement or correctional/detention facility.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately document and track inventory using logs or electronic systems.
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook email, Word, and Excel.
  • Must possess sound judgment and perform job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory, document, label, and securely store resident personal property during intake and release procedures.
  • Maintain chain-of-custody records and accountability documentation for all stored property and issued equipment.
  • Issue and collect facility property, uniforms, identification items, and operational equipment.
  • Conduct routine property audits and reconcile inventory discrepancies according to facility procedures.
  • Maintain organized storage spaces and ensure property remains secured and protected from damage or loss.
  • Coordinate with detention staff and transportation personnel regarding resident property transfers and releases.
  • Prepare inventory reports, accountability documentation, and operational records related to property management activities.
  • Investigate missing property reports or inventory discrepancies and notify supervisors of concerns.
