About The Position
Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for a Property Claim Adjuster to join our Claims team located in our home office located in Buffalo, New York or one of our Regional Offices located in Melville, New York, Mt. Laurel, New Jersey or Bedford, New Hampshire. The Property Claim Adjuster will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on Commercial Property claims. This position interacts extensively with home office technical managers, internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and a multitude of claim-related service providers. Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ claims experience handling first party Property claims (Commercial claim handling experience is preferred).
- Skilled negotiator, capable of formulating strategy and action plans for files.
- State adjusters license (or ability to obtain).
- Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required.
Nice To Haves
- Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
- The Property Claim Adjuster will be responsible for investigating coverage and liability damages.
- Provides a high level of customer service.
- Conducting and directing timely and quality claim investigations, evaluations and equitable settlements of all assigned claims.
- Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.
