About The Position

The selected candidate will ideally live in Dickson County in TN and/or surrounding areas. The hiring manager will consider candidates for Property Adjuster Trainee (F08), Property Adjuster I (F09) or Property Adjuster II (F10). The level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. A company car and equipment to work from home will be provided. Ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory. How the Property Adjuster Trainee program works: Tentative Program Start Date: 1/4/2027. The 15-week training program will require multiple weeks of training in Erie, PA, which will prepare you for immediate success as a Property Adjuster. The Smart Start class of Property Adjuster Trainees will consist of both classroom and hands-on training activities in the ERIE Technical Learning Center (in Erie, PA), where individuals will learn ERIE's property estimating platform. Trainees will be provided with field experiences and opportunities to learn about workflows within their branch office and apply what they have learned to claims that they handle alongside their mentors and supervisors. This program gives interested individuals comprehensive training to successfully prepare them for the Property Adjuster role. Additional program details, expectations, and timing will be discussed during the interview process. Class Dates at the Technical Learning Center in Erie, Pa: 1/4/27- 1/15, 2/8- 2/19, 3/22- 3/26.

Requirements

Property Adjuster Trainee: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE sponsored formal education; or Bachelor’s Degree required.
Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required.
Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company.
Position requires incumbent to serve on catastrophe duty, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods in excess of two consecutive weeks.
Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training required.
Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 preferred.

Responsibilities

Conducts investigations, interviews, and inspects damage, driving to site of damage within assigned territory or other if required.
Prepares estimates, makes recommendation, and handles coverage questions, and litigation.
Sets and maintains reserves, reviews reports and related materials, directs experts, determines coverage and claim value, issues or declines payment, and negotiates claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary.
Documents claim files and submits report for closure.
Recognizes subrogation situations and initiates appropriate action.
Services assigned territory and brings assigned claims to conclusion.
Interacts with Agents and district sales managers on matters of mutual concern.
Assists claims supervisor or acts on his/her behalf, including representing the company at legal proceedings, as required.
Completes industry-related training programs and continues to attend training programs to remain informed on policy changes, interpretation or new legislation.
Assists in training of new claims adjusters.
Participates on Catastrophe Team when required.
