Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related industry.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional image compatible with United Group – positive attitude, energetic, assertive.
  • Demonstrates integrity on a personal and professional level.
  • Strong work ethic with exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and accounting principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Entrata experience is a plus.
  • CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on cash management.
  • Handle Accounts Payable for distressed properties.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with governmental agencies and GAAP.
  • Generate reports and data necessary for property operations management.
  • Prepare detailed accounting, statistical, and narrative financial statements and reports requiring analysis and interpretation.
  • Collect data on direct, indirect, and overhead costs for rate and fee setting.
  • Participate in the preparation, evaluation, justification, and maintenance of budgets and financial controls.
  • Examine records to ensure asset acquisition, sale, retirement, and other entries are reflected.
  • Prepare schedules for depreciation of buildings and equipment.
  • Prepare Ad Hoc Reports (Cash flows/projections/finance and management requests).
  • Provide guidance to Accounts Payable staff for timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Assist and provide support to Accounting Intern.
  • Collaborate with Property and Regional Managers in the creation of the annual property budget.
  • Upload budgets for assigned properties into the management operating system.
  • Present and explain variances to budget to owners, executives, and management.
  • Create monthly reporting and financial statements for management.
  • Work with Property Management to apply core accounting principles and practices and ensure established controls are adhered to.
  • Assist Controller, CFO, CEO and management with special projects.
  • Prepare and disseminate reports including end-of-month reports, leasing/occupancy reports, cash management and analysis, and aging accounts receivable.
  • Work with management and leadership to cure deficiencies and set up contingency plans for distressed properties.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the Accounting Department and contribute to ensuring cohesive operations.
  • Update property information and checklists quarterly (or as needed).
  • Ensure Financial Statement delivery meets established deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly Financial Statements and work to remedy any deficiencies before final review by the Controller.
  • Ensure Financial Statements are disseminated to appropriate stakeholders after management approval and ensure consistent and timely electronic retention.
  • Respond to audit inquiries and comply with Regulators/Auditors' requests.
  • Create and maintain Monthly/Quarterly/Annual checklists for Audits/Tax Returns + Annual Filings.
