Propellant Scheduler

SpaceX•Starbase, TX, TX

About The Position

The Starship Launch Operations team is seeking a highly motivated Propellant Scheduler to procure, schedule, and distribute propellants internally for launch and testing. Based at the Starbase Launch facility, the role works closely with engineers, technicians, supply chain, finance, and suppliers to support operations and ensure propellant availability does not constrain the pace of work. The position uses analytics to provide business-critical insights and support cross-functional alignment on goals and execution. The scheduler coordinates fuel and gas deliveries from third-party vendors, translates site demand into delivery schedules, tracks schedule performance and consumption, and makes resource-allocation decisions in a dynamic operating environment. The role also identifies risks and system pitfalls, evaluates trends, and maintains vendor relationships to help source propellant when needed. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements described in the posting. SpaceX is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers reasonable accommodation for applicants who need it during the application or interview process.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in math, science, or business and at least 1 year of experience performing scheduling duties in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or aerospace environment; or at least 4 years of experience performing scheduling or project manager duties in a manufacturing, industrial, or aerospace environment.
  • Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed; flexibility is required.
  • Ability to travel to other SpaceX facilities as needed, up to 25%.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must meet the stated U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, science, business, supply chain, or economics.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent, and discrete event modeling tools.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and related production principles.
  • Experience in an industrial or operations engineering role or environment.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or other scheduling programs.
  • Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in a technical industry.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate fuel and gas deliveries to the site as liaison among supply chain, operations, engineering, technicians, and propellant vendors.
  • Translate site demand into a weekly delivery schedule for third-party vendors.
  • Provide daily schedule visibility, weekly status updates, and monthly reviews covering schedule performance, cost, and estimated versus actual consumption.
  • Make fast-paced decisions about internal and external resource allocations to support dynamic or unpredictable operations.
  • Evaluate and flag schedule risks and trends to management, considering past performance data, bottlenecks, demand versus supply, external market factors, and lead times.
  • Identify and characterize system pitfalls in propellant management and delivery.
  • Develop relationships with third-party vendors to support effective communication and creatively source propellant when needed.
