Propagation Specialist
About The Position
The Propagation Specialist supports the entire Cultivation Department by handling day-to-day plant maintenance and grow-facility cleaning specifically within the mother, clone and veg rooms. It is critical that Propagation Specialists are properly trained on company protocols and the importance of state compliance. The Propagation Specialist operates with direct supervision from the Propagation Manager, follows established policies and procedures, and contributes to the development of new concepts, policies, and procedures as necessary. Propagation Specialists may be cross-trained to care for cannabis plants in other stages of life such as flower and post-harvest activities.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Ability to make decisions as necessary with oversight when needed
- Proficiency in windows-based and other software and internet navigation
- Fun attitude, strong work ethic, strong attention to detail, must have a team player mentality
- Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and rotating shifts, including weekends
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds
- Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel for extended periods and repetitively throughout a workday
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours
- All applicants must be at least 21 years of age
- All applicants must pass a FBI fingerprint search and a BCI federal background search
- Attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and a strong work ethic is required to start.
Nice To Haves
- A certification or associate or bachelor’s degree in a plant specific, farming, or other science related field is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist the cultivation team in the organization and oversight of nursery environments.
- Ensure the maintenance of genetic mother stock and crop schedules.
- Responsible for the propagation and health of all clones and seedlings (propagation, transplanting, topping/pruning, fertigation, IPM).
- Work with managers to monitor and document annual crop timeline and rotation to ensure timely planting and harvests.
- Responsible for plant health from propagation through vegetative growth cycle.
- Responsible for supply and equipment ordering for the nursery.
- Document and evaluate cloning and seed propagation success rate data.
- Assist in determining cultivars to run based on yield and plant performance data.
- Responsible for communicating all progress to management on a weekly basis.
- Maintains all compliance systems.
