About The Position

The Project Support You Liaison (PSY - Liaison) is a trained human services provider who assists law enforcement staff with behavioral health and/or substance use disorder calls for service. The role involves linking community members with area resource programs, including but not limited to education, outreach, and follow-up care. This support extends to youth, the elderly, and citizens in need of housing, financial assistance, food, legal aid, and transportation, with the goal of reducing repeat calls for service.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent certification.
  • At least three years of related experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorders services.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • MHRT/C or MHRT/C eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide follow-up services to individuals involved with law enforcement and/or by referral, including identification and assessment of risk factors and needs.
  • Assist individuals in accessing community services to address risk factors and needs, including in the areas of housing, job support, mental health, and substance use treatment (covering juvenile, schools, elderly, community outreach).
  • Provide ongoing support to identified individuals through phone contact and face-to-face meetings at the assigned police department and in community settings.
  • Work collaboratively with assigned police department staff and community providers, including other police community resource liaisons, to resolve individual and systems barriers impacting individuals and the community.
  • Develop and maintain collaboration opportunities with community partners and stakeholders (residents, schools, general assistance programs, municipal staff, tabling community events, e.g. coffee w/ a cop).
