About The Position

Through Unity Lab Services, we offer integrated lab services, support, and supply management with customized service offerings and world-class experts to address unique laboratory business needs. The Lead Manufacturing Support Specialist performs a wide range of materials management, inventory, and coordination activities supporting manufacturing supply chain operations across multiple locations. This role supports daily warehouse and logistics operations within a cGMP environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4+ year's experience with material handling, supply chain, or manufacturing required
  • Experience working in a cGMP environment.
  • Experience using the following ERP systems strongly preferred: Oracle, Veeva, Coupa, LIMS, MES, temperature monitoring systems, and logistics platforms (including World Courier and FedEx Custom Critical).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and delegate tasks to others.

  • The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline.
  • Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required.
  • The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs.
  • Standing, walking, reaching, and bending are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments.
  • Overtime and on-call work may also be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, label, and store materials in alignment with material specifications and required temperature conditions; ensure accurate system transactions and physical handling, including use of material handling equipment.
  • Perform sampling and retain activities for incoming materials, including proper documentation, storage, and coordination with Quality Control for testing and delivery.
  • Coordinate and execute material transfers between locations, ensuring proper temperature control, documentation, and chain of custody throughout transport.
  • Execute and oversee ERP transactions including material receipts, transfers, issuing, batch creation, inventory adjustments, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate inventory by managing storage conditions, performing cycle counts, monitoring discrepancies, and supporting reconciliation activities.
  • Support shipping and logistics activities, including coordination with carriers and cross functional teams to ensure timely and compliant domestic and international shipments.
  • Partner with Quality, Technical Operations, Regulatory, Procurement, and other stakeholders to resolve material flow issues, including shortages, damaged goods, or documentation gaps.
  • Monitor temperature control systems and devices, investigate excursions, and escalate issues as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and execute material kitting and staging activities to support production schedules, including both MES and non-MES processes.
  • Support cleanroom operations including gowning and material movement into controlled environments while maintaining required standards.
  • Manage min/max inventory levels, review expiry data, and coordinate replenishment and disposal activities as needed.
  • Procure, track, and manage bulk gases and other critical materials in alignment with production requirements.
  • Provide guidance on inventory control, supply chain processes, and operational best practices.
  • Participate in cross functional projects, task forces, and supply chain initiatives as a key contributor.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and company vehicles.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support unplanned events or operational disruptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
