Project Scheduler

IRENVancouver, BC
CA$120,000 - CA$150,000Hybrid

About The Position

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in. The Project Scheduler / Cost Control Specialist is a senior contributor to the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects across Western Canada. This role owns the development, maintenance, and integrity of integrated project schedules across multiple active sites, while supporting construction cost tracking and forecasting to enable informed, real-time decision-making on hundred-million-dollar programs. You will work closely with the Project Director and cross-functional teams spanning construction, engineering, procurement, and commissioning — helping deliver some of the most technically sophisticated data center facilities in the industry. This is a hands-on role that demands deep field construction experience and the credibility that comes with it. While the role is hybrid, you will be expected to travel to and work from active project sites across Western Canada as needed to stay connected to field conditions and project teams.

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of hands-on scheduling experience on large-scale construction projects, with direct field construction exposure strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience on data center or other mission-critical infrastructure projects is highly valued.
  • Proven ability to manage and integrate schedules across multiple concurrent sites or projects.
  • Experience on projects in the hundreds of millions of dollars in value.
  • Proficiency in MS Project (required); experience with Primavera P6 is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
  • Ability to develop and present schedule scenarios and sensitivities that support senior leadership decision-making and portfolio optimization.
  • Experience incorporating schedule uncertainty and risk — including probabilistic methods and contingency planning — into schedule documents and project plans.
  • Solid working knowledge of construction cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to translate schedule and cost data into clear, actionable insights for project leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites.
  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites across Western Canada as project needs require.
  • You understand what we're building and know what to expect and what questions to ask. You've seen some of the pitfalls, and you have ideas to share.
  • Familiarity with western Canadian construction practices and the regional project environment is an advantage.
  • Share knowledge and provide informal guidance to less experienced team members where opportunities arise.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is an asset, though equivalent practical experience will be given strong consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using MS Project (and Primavera P6 where applicable), covering all phases of data center construction across multiple Western Canada sites.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and construction teams to validate activity sequencing, durations, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor schedule performance across sites, identify critical path impacts or delays, and recommend mitigation and recovery strategies to keep projects on track.
  • Run schedule scenarios and what-if analyses to support executive decision-making and program optimization across the portfolio.
  • Incorporate and communicate schedule uncertainty, including risk-adjusted timelines and probabilistic planning, to provide leadership with a realistic picture of project outcomes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to align fabrication, delivery, and installation schedules for critical equipment and systems.
  • Support change management processes by incorporating approved scope changes into project schedules and forecasts.
  • Participate in schedule and risk review meetings to maintain alignment across project teams and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and reporting standards.
  • Support construction cost tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting, including cash flow projections and evaluation of cost risks and opportunities.
  • Identify, track, and communicate schedule and cost risks, including impacts related to long-lead equipment procurement.
  • Prepare and distribute regular progress reports, dashboards, and KPIs highlighting schedule adherence, cost performance, and key project risks for the Project Director and senior stakeholders.
  • Support change management processes by incorporating approved scope changes into budgets and forecasts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes, tools, and reporting standards.
